In our proposal, we proposed to build a mobile AR game using Unity. The concept is to create an accessibility-focused game, centered around visually impaired users. We understand that the Authoring Tool should allow uploading built app bundles (IPA for iOS, APK for Android) and make them available in the marketplace. Can we confirm that this is on the roadmap?
February 19, 2025 at 12:48 pm #760The world builder will be able to upload an app into the store. The details still need to be discussed but as far as I know this is already available in the WB.
February 20, 2025 at 3:22 pm #778Our proposal does not use the world builder, as we are targeting Android and iOS focused on accessibility for visually impaired people. We will build with a different platform (Unity) for two different targets: Android devices, and iOS devices. The question is how are we going to be able to distribute those builds through the Authoring tool and portal.
February 26, 2025 at 6:13 pm #838There is an AR App Wizard for this scenario. Select “New Project” at the startup of the World Builder. Then select the AR Project Template and click “Create”. Be sure to have your project path set to the place where your build is located.
In the next window you can drag & drop the build from the left area to the right to add it to your upload. Fill out the Info for the shop at the top and click “Create/Update” to create or update your product in the XR4ED shop.
March 3, 2025 at 10:23 am #856Hi,
I’m interested in publishing a build version too, but I only have the empty template in my 2.0 version of the World Builder. Can you help me, where can I find the AR App Wizard that has the template ?
Thanks!
Same question on my end – the most recent 0.2 does not seem to have this template.
One additional question: our game is played in a classroom setting, with a moderator. We have two small tools for the moderator (a game server and frontend) that go together with the Android app. Can this be included in the wizard?
There are several deployment scenarios possible
- players download the app themselves, moderator needs only the tools
- moderator downloads everything, helps players with installs
- local IT on the school helps with app installation, moderator tools downloaded by teachers
etc… What would be the best way to organise this?
As a small side remark – the email notifications on replies do not seem to work…
March 20, 2025 at 12:41 pm #1370If I understood you correctly, you want to provide the Android App as well as executable code for a game server and HTML or PHP code(?) for a frontend. This seems to me like three separate items which in my view should be three different products in the shop. You could place explaining text (with links into the shop to the other 2 products) to the Android product to let the user know that there are more products to buy/fetch.
About the deployment scenarios, it seems to me that it is enough to just place all your products in the shop where they can either be downloaded by the player, by the moderator or by the local IT guy. The procedure appears to be the same in each case, but I’m not a UX or marketing expert.
Sounds like a reasonable path forward to me. Should that all be done through the AR App Wizard? Or should we go straight to the Cellock portal?
Indeed, for deployment, different ways of bundling may be more appropriate. Having two separate bundles (one for the app, one for the support tools) is a good starting point.
March 21, 2025 at 3:49 pm #1377I suggest you use the AR App Wizard even if that’s the only thing you use the World Builder for. The Shop settings can be confusing, so it would be easier for you. After publishing a few AR products you can analyze the required ‘internal’ structure and switch to publishing it manually directly in the shop.
March 26, 2025 at 8:41 am #1390You need to “buy” it in the XR4ED store (put in cart and check out). Then it will download and install automatically the next time you start the World Builder.
April 3, 2025 at 8:36 am #1431I believe there is a misunderstanding here. The template that includes the wizard is specifically intended for configuring the CYENS AR app and is most likely not compatible with other applications. If you are developing your own Android/iOS app and need a configuration tool to create custom content, a similar wizard should be developed. If that’s not the case, a different form of integration with the XR4ED platform would be required. This means the app should use the REST API, and more specific details should be discussed with the your mentor.
